Lincoln Surgical Associates Make Staying Up to Date a Priority
Surgeons attend conferences and educational courses.
Lincoln Surgical surgeons make it a priority to know about the latest in surgical methods and technology.
James Clanahan, MD, FACS, attended the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. "There is increasing emphasis on risk and genetic assessment in addition to routine annual breast screening," Dr. Clanahan said. "All of my breast patients are evaluated for lifetime risk of development of breast cancer as well as the probability of harboring a BRAC mutation. Patients are then counseled about available testing."

Douglas Aach, MD, FACS, went to the annual Washington University General Surgery Conference. The conference emphasized new concepts on safety in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
Kevin Barnett, MD, FACS, attended the annual SAGES meeting. The importance of smoking cessation and strict preoperative weight control prior to ventral hernia repair were discussed.
D. Scott Crouch, MD, FACS, participated in a course on general surgery applications of robotics technology with an emphasis on hernia surgery.
