| Paste StomahesiveŽ Paste is designed for use in conjunction with Stomahesive and DurahesiveŽ Wafers in the protection of peristomal skin. It is comprised of ingredients similar to those found in the Stomahesive Skin Barrier, only in a paste form. The paste is not an adhesive. It's used as a filler or "caulking" substance to fill in uneven skin surfaces around the stoma and provides a flat pouching surface so as to prevent leakage under the wafer. Powder Stomahesive Powder is also used in conjunction with Stomahesive or Durahesive Wafers in the protection of peristomal skin. Stomahesive Powder is designed to form a protective skin barrier on weeping areas. Strips In the management of difficult stomas, Stomahesive Strips can be used as fillers to protect uneven skin surfaces next to the stoma, fistula, or wound. They assist in providing a level skin surface, evening out dimples, valleys, and scars and provide additional skin barrier protection when needed. Protective Barrier Wipes Protective Barrier Wipes are pads saturated with a non-water soluble skin barrier solution. When applied, the solution forms a thin film on the skin to help protect it from skin stripping, tension blisters and folliculitis. This protective barrier resists breakdown and "breathes" for greater comfort. Adhesive Remover Wipes The Adhesive Remover Wipe is a pad saturated with a unique iso-alcohol-free adhesive remover, which minimizes stinging sensation when applied. Its formula effectively removes tape, wafer, and adhesive residues from the skin and contains an ingredient with emollient properties that leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. In addition, it has a pleasant citrus scent and provides a flat pouching surface thus preventing leakage. |

| Healthy skin is of the utmost concern to healthcare providers
everywhere. Maintaining the integrity of healthy skin and preventing
breakdown are primary responsibilities of all caregivers. Proper assessment is the first step toward effective skin management, Skin irritation, as manifested by reddening, is common. If present, a cause must be established. The causes of redness, which may include friction, pressure or irritation by urine and/or feces, each of which must be treated accordingly. To facilitate care of patient's skin, ConvaTec has developed a complete line of Skin Care products for bathing, protection, and incontinence. All products offer overall cost-effectiveness, saving of valuable nursing time and preventing more serious skin breakdown. Skin barriers protect the peristomal skin from irritating effluent. The skin barrier also serves as the means to attach a pouching system to the body. STOMAHESIVEŽ In 1972, the Stomahesive Skin Barrier Wafer was ConvaTec's first entry in the ostomy market. Its excellent skin protection provided a major advance in security and comfort for people with ostomies. Its unique formulation allows Stomahesive to adhere to both wet and dry surfaces. This natural "tack" adheres gently, yet firmly, to skin without the need for additional adhesives. On the outer surface of the Stomahesive Wafer is a waterproof layer. This layer allows the wafer to be worn during showering, bathing, and swimming. In addition, the wafer is designed to conform to the body's contours and be comfortable. The Stomahesive Skin Barrier is used to protect peristomal skin and can be cut and molded for use in the management of difficult stomas. DURAHESIVEŽ It is essential that the fragile skin surrounding all ostomies and wounds be protected from the irritating and excoriating effects of enzymes and other harmful elements often present in intestinal contents, urinary effluent and wound drainage. An important characteristic of the Durahesive Skin Barrier is its ability to help protect against enzymatic destruction by a unique phenomenon known as "turtlenecking." As it absorbs and encapsulates moisture, the Durahesive wafer swells up around the stoma to form a secure barrier which protects peristomal skin from irritating effluent. Swelling occurs in varying amounts depending on the type and volume of effluent/drainage that flows from the stoma or wound. |
